Ch 14.34 - Privacy/Surveillance
"Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say." - Edward Snowden
a. 4th Amendment
------------------------—
”The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” - Bill of Rights, Amendment IV - Search and arrest
b. Privacy/Anonymity
------------------------—
pri·va·cy - noun - the state or condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people. Derived from the Latin word "privatus" which means set apart from what is public, personal and belonging to oneself, and not to the state.
"Hint: In order to effectively censor you, they need to know who you are. Don't give them that. Remain anonymous at all costs. The moment they can positively identify you, they've got you. So when Twitter and PayPal and any other online corporation insists that you send them an Official Photo ID to continue doing business with them, DO NOT COMPLY! Close your account and walk away." - Unknown
"You know who were anonymous writers back in the day? Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison when they wrote the Federalist Papers." - Ron DeSantis
"Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority. . . . It thus exemplifies the purpose behind the Bill of Rights and of the First Amendment in particular: to protect unpopular individuals from retaliation . . . at the hand of an intolerant society." - Unknown
"Anything anonymous inevitably turns Right Wing because the only point of being Left Wing is for status, and you can't win status anonymously, so left-wing talking points quickly dissipate. There is no incentive to repeat the pretty lies of the left. The less anonymous the forum, the less about truth and more about status-signaling the political discussion becomes. It's why Left Wingers create and congregate in the most deanonymous discussion places. They quickly abandon anonymous sites. They can't hang with genuine discussion and have no status to gain, so they leave." - WilliamK
"Anonymity is the Left's thermal exhaust port, because anonymity provides a means of expressing truths free from witch hunts." - Heartiste
c. Surveillance
------------------------—
"In God we trust, all others we monitor. (...and we'd monitor Him if we could find His freq)" - Unknown
sur·veil·lance - noun - close observation, especially of a suspected spy or criminal. From French, from sur- ‘over’ + veiller ‘watch’ (from Latin vigilare ‘keep watch’) i.e., to keep watch over.
"It doesn't even matter whether it's true or not, as long as people believe it. What the Communist Party is doing with all this high-tech surveillance technology now is they're trying to internalize control. ... Once you believe it's true, it's like you don't even need the policemen at the corner anymore, because you're becoming your own policeman." - Unknown
”This is too much power for one person.” - The Dark Knight Rises
"Google is now hiring! No need to apply, they already have all your information." - Unknown
"Look, you don’t have any idea how much information we have on you - but it’s a lot." - Unknown
"Privacy is nice, but in times of crisis...security comes first." - Thomas de Maziere
"I've got a story that could involve AI. I live in an apartment in a middle of a city. Because of how the apartment is situated, sometimes I find it easier to quickly get to the shop by leaving through my apartment balcony. I just hop over this little fence. Anyway, recently the council has done a lot of renovation work nearby and they installed lots of high tech cameras. Straight after they were turned on, I had a letter of complaint from the council that I have been seen exiting my flat through my balcony and that if this continues, I will be given an antisocial behaviour order and possibly subject to a fine. There's no way any person would give a crap how I left my apartment, but AI would. I'm guessing the cameras use AI to capture any wrong doing, no matter how remote. Straight dystopia." - Unknown
“Don't use biometrics for anti-fraud. In fact, don't use biometrics for anything.” - Edward Snowden
"Biometrics are like a ****ty password that once it gets stolen, you can never change it." - Unknown
"Once in a while I get annoyed about the fact that I have no real privacy. Nowhere I can go and not be registered. I know that, somewhere, everything I do, think and dream of is recorded. I just hope that nobody will use it against me." - Glenn Meder
“There will come a time when it isn't 'They're spying on me through my phone' anymore. Eventually, it will be 'My phone is spying on me'.” = Philip K. Dick
"Relax, I'm not listening to your phone call… I just want to know who you’re calling, how often, how long, and from where. That's all. - NSA" - Unknown
"I remember we had an FBI security consultant on the picture that they can use your ADT security box microphone to get your stuff that's going on your house or OnStar they can shut your car down. And he told me that 1 in 5 phone calls which you make are recorded and logged. And I laughed at him. And he played back a phone conversation I had 2 years prior to joining the picture." - Shia Lebouf on the Transformers Movie
"Um, hello there, Alphabet-Soup Agency, could I please have all the files you've assembled on me? Yes, there is a protocol for requesting information (the Freedom of Information Act FOIA), but there are exemptions and delays, so don't hold your breath." - Unknown
“Why is the government spying on every person in the country? It sounds like they're a bunch of paranoid conspiracy theorists who are afraid of their citizens.” - Unknown
"You may keep secrets from your friends, from your parents, your children, your doctor, even your personal trainer, but it takes real effort to conceal your thoughts from google. And if that is true today, in the future there may be nowhere to hide.” - Boris Johnson
"The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." - Proverbs 15:3 KJV
"Welcome to 'The slide.' This is where paid agents sit on sites waiting for articles to be posted so they can take control of the narrative and move the goal posts of the conversation. Often this is done with 'a Joke' that seems to be on topic, but with a few other accounts becomes the most engaged thread, which in turn buries other relevant comments further down the line where few to no people will ever see them. You will find it in every article that gets any traction." - Unknown
"LifeLog was a project of the Information Processing Techniques Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD)... LifeLog aimed to compile a massive electronic database of every activity and relationship a person engages in. This was to include credit card purchases, web sites visited, the content of telephone calls and e-mails sent and received, scans of faxes and postal mail sent and received, instant messages sent and received, books and magazines read, television and radio selections, physical location recorded via wearable GPS sensors, biomedical data captured through wearable sensors." - Wikipedia. LifeLog bids were solicited in 2003. The project was terminated one year before FaceBook was founded in 2004.

"Big Tech, could you please share precisely how and when I've been shadow-banned, who else has copies of the data you've collected about me and how much you "earned" selling my data to third parties? What's actually in your AI tools? Does any public agency have any real oversight power over all the looting, pillaging and predation you're pursuing?" - Unknown

"There was a story on ZH the other day that posited the notion we were in a police state and that The People were being groomed to spy on each other, that we should fear The people, the mob. What Christine Anderson said above perfectly focuses on the real problems, squarely laying the problem on the globalist ruling class and their work against the will of the people. I'm not worried about the people ratting out their neighbors. Far more invasive is the marriage of Government and the take over of mega Corporations. So much of the destruction we see in our economy, while blamed on political incompetence, is planned and executed purposely on a corporate level for the purpose of consolidating power and killing off small and medium size companies, to eliminate competition, to enslave The People. Nothing furthered that cause more than Covid restrictions, where mom and pop was shut down, while Walmart marched on. The vast majority of which was enforced not by government, not the local police, but by your employer, and big corporations who became the muscle behind the globalist's unlawful edicts. It was not jail time that we faced, it was loosing our job, being forced to use bogus covid tests, or being refused treatment at the hospital if unjabbed, etc, that enforced their lawless orders. Corporations became the enforcers of the police state! Your employer, your communication devises, your purchase history, your banking, your travel, and even your Mega church are all monitoring you for the government. We all sign agreements that few bother to read and that require you to surrender your data. Even your new car is watching you. It is big Corp, not your neighbor, that is spying on you, and selling that data to the government! If we are ever to be free from the police state, we'll need to free ourselves from their system, the marriage of business, the State and the apostate church. And when they finally eliminate cash, Katie bar the door, they'll have a window into our souls, a hook that will turn us all into cogs on their wheel... They do not need snitches when we volunteer our data to every app, every grocery store, every cell phone company, basically anyone who asks, even your stupid word games, what you watch on your laptop, what you say to anyone anywhere, all recorded by big corp and sold to the highest bidder. Musk plays a good game, you're now free to speak your mind on X, while he's still free to sell your data to governments around the world. Think about that a minute... WHO DO YOU THINK THE HIGHEST BIDDER FOR YOUR DATA IS? What do you want to bet the same outfit that buys $500 toilet seats! Christine is right, we must learn to say no, but not just to the ruling class politicians and their lawless demands, but also to the mega corps who farm us like cattle for that ruling class!" - Unknown
d. Cyberpunks
------------------------—
"The cypherpunks have been preparing for this since 1993. BitTorrent / Bitcoin / Monero / PGP / Nostr. The Resistance is Ready. We'll see how it turns out." - Unknown
"If you find a piece of information on the internet that looks like it will be censored, make sure to archive the URL at archive.is - Russian version of Yandex (Yandex.ru) to get optimal results. I wouldn't trust the English-language version (Yandex.com) which is definitely censored. Be advised, even though Russian Yandex comes up in cyrillic, you can enter english search terms and get satisfactory results. Also, Brave search isn't really much better than Google, other than it doesn't try to build a dossier on you." - Unknown
"Use Linux and stay off of social media. Starve the vile beast.
https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Here is the download link for the Linux Ubuntu operating system for desktops. Installing and using Linux is much, much easier than people have been led to believe; Linux is no more complex than Windows to use; you do not have to be a systems engineer, and you do not have to type commands into a DOS-type prompt. You can save the install file on a thumb drive or burn it to a disc. Installing is usually as easy as rebooting and clicking through the install steps. The learning curve for using Linux to surf the net or use Open Office, for example, is less than a day. Linux is free and doesn't harvest your personal data. It is also much more stable than Windows." - Unknown on why you should use Linux instead of Windows
"Get a de-googled Motorola running LineageOS from this guy:
https://privacytogo.co/
Or make your own. They work really well, and you will no longer feel so dirty when you use it." - Unknown
