a. Sorting
-------------------------------
"You could start by voting with your feet, but sorting happens before every civil war." - Unknown
”We put green and purple in great barrel. Equal to numbers of Drazi. Then we reach in. We take. Where there was one Drazi people now there are two. The two fight until they are one!” - Babylon 5
"Always remember: There really aren't any Blue States, only Blue Cities. Even upstate New York, outside the larger cities, is dominated by farmers, especially dairy farmers." - Unknown
"Spent most of my life in a red county in a blue state. It's no protection. Time to get the hell out. I did a year ago and the difference is mind-blowing." - Unknown
"We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.” - Marjorie Taylor Greene
"Secession is the solution to the problem… That was made illegal over 150 years ago." - Unknown
Ultimately, the only form of government that can be relied upon is an accountable one. Politicians have no personal liability when they impose unconstitutional laws on the rest of us. How do you keep the government honest? Balkanization - named after the division of the Balkan Peninsula into several smaller nations. Once known as the Ottoman Empire, today it is Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia. In 1776 the United States had a population of 2,500,000 people. Today there are 330,000,000 people. We have city, county, state, and federal branches of government. That's four layers of abstraction standing between our elected leaders and us. Politicians are less honest, more sociopathic, and more powerful today than ever. If you or someone you know isn’t familiar with the people in charge on a first-name basis, they cannot be trusted with your money. Much less the 50%+ of our incomes we entrust with our leaders today. Proximity breeds accountability
"Ever go through a divorce? It ain’t pretty. Expect to lose 90%." - Unknown
b. Leaving
-------------------------------
“ You (as an individual) can (sort of) exit the fiat system and go live on a self sufficient mountain top somewhere” - Unknown
"At this point, if you want to maximize your personal freedom, you ought to consider living in a country where you’re not a citizen. That’s because governments consider citizens to be their subjects, their assets, their property. However, when you’re a foreign citizen living in a foreign country, the local government tends to consider you a non-threat, almost a non-person. Sad to say, in today’s world, from a personal freedom point of view, you’re better off not living in your own country. That certainly includes the US and Canada." - Unknown
"Rule #1 - don't be where they are killing everyone. Go to the BRICs and LatAm. Get away from core western nations. You want disorganized government. You don't want a government that is efficient at controlling you. You want to be a cockroach who can disappear into the cracks." - Francis Hunt, Market Sniper
"Make no mistake. You need to physically leave the totalitarian jurisdiction to be free. That is unless you want to die on a particular hill. News flash: All hills are, in fact, the same. There's a reason that ‘fight or flight’ is a binary phenomenon. There is no in-between. There's a reason why we have ‘capital flight,’ but we don't have ‘capital fight.’ Nature scatters capital to weaken the wrong, and nature concentrates capital to strengthen the right. And concentration of capital is what wins wars. When Atlas shrugs, it has zero to do with sitting still. By physically leaving, you are denying/depriving the tyrant of EVERYTHING good about you -- your knowledge, your capital, your output, your investments, your transactions, your very presence, and even knowledge about you. You take away EVERYTHING from the tyrant by leaving, and you bring it all to a jurisdiction that respects you as an INDIVIDUAL and doesn't abuse you. The vast majority of minds in the US, UK, and Australia don't even entertain the notion of leaving. Instead, they idly fantasize about ‘holding their ground’ while the foundation of capital erodes right beneath their feet. Recall the old folks who remained in their cabins on Mt. St. Helens. So die on that hill if you want to. Be my guest. And keep fantasizing that, without the US, UK, and Australia, the world is lost -- as if your reluctance to leave is somehow a noble sacrifice for the rest of the world. Nothing could be further from the truth. The simple fact is that those who won't leave are either intent on feeding the beast or, more likely, intent on feeding from the beast. Here too, we see that there is no in-between. The fact that debt makes it more challenging to leave tells you all you need to know about the connection between indebtedness and tyranny. If you want to live free, you must be capable of imposing your freedom, which requires staying out of debt. The fact that Marx wrote poems to Satan tells you all you need to know about the connection between collectivism and tyranny. To live free, you must understand that the binary choice between individualism vs. collectivism lies at the heart of all human interaction. It is true that after answering the question ‘Am I alive?’ you must answer the question ‘Am I an individual or am I only the cell of an individual.’ If you choose to be an individual, you have lived as an individualist; you tend not to be envious or overly concerned with what others possess or do, and you can leave the tyranny more easily. If you choose to be a cell, you have lived as a collectivist; you tend to be envious and overly concerned with what others possess and do, and you cannot leave the tyranny easily. Fortunately, nature constrains tyranny as a parasite, allowing freedom to collapse tyranny by simply turning away from it, leaving it behind, and denying it a host. Historians always cast the death of tyranny in terms of who murdered it, as if the last straw breaks the camel's back. Marx openly admitted that the whole point of individual freedom and free markets should be to fatten the host for the satisfaction of the parasite. If murdering the tyranny worked, then you would have done it already. You haven't, and you won't, because you can't. And no one ever has. It always comes down to starving the tyranny." - Unknown
"If your government is ruining your country you should leave your country. And build your business where you are free. And after that government has fallen you will come back to your home to take it back stronger than ever." - Unknown
"Thailand, Uruguay and other far-flung under-achievers. Uruguay, for example, imports only about ten percent of what it consumes and almost all of that comes from other Spanish-speaking countries. It also exports only about ten percent of what it produces. Whilst this has caused Uruguay to remain a sleepy little country with minimal dynamics, it has allowed it to sit out major events elsewhere in the world. (In the last century, it sat out both World Wars and the Great Depression.) Therefore, those who recognize that their home country and its population centres may soon become less than livable, may find that, by moving to Cafayate, Argentina, Chiang Mai, Thailand, or Lake Chapala, Mexico, may dramatically decrease the odds of becoming a casualty of the unfolding crisis... In Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam and others, the mood is buoyant. Asians fully understand that this is their century." - Unknown
