Ch 14.31 - Rights
"No matter how they spin it, freedom is not extreme. Control is extreme." - Unknown
Narrative: Rights are an outdated concept. We have an out-of-control gun problem that can be fixed by taking firearms out of the hands of the public (especially AR-15-style assault rifles). You have no right to privacy. If you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide anyway.

a. Natural Law
---------------------------
"God has established four realms of government to which He delegates authority:
1) self-government
2) family government
3) church government
4) civil government
If one invades the authority of the other, chaos or tyranny ensues." - Unknown
“there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” - Romans 13:1
b. Limited Government
---------------------------
“The Constitution is like birth control for the government.” - Unknown
"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." - John Adams-1756
No one can read our Constitution without concluding that the people who wrote it wanted their government severely limited; the words 'no' and 'not' employed in restraint of government power occur 24 times in the first seven articles of the Constitution and 22 more times in the Bill of Rights.
"If this comment needs its tires pumped I’m going to gladly provide some air.: Around 1914, Canada allowed the purchase of Alberta farmland by 600,000 American farmers. Alberta is the strongest province in Canada on all possible economic fronts, it’s got the best cost of living (aside from Real Estate because many are leaving Vancouver and Toronto for AB) & it’s got the cleanest, least ghetto cities. They vote overwhelmingly Conservative. All this because of their deep American roots. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!" - Unknown
"As a European, I tell Americans: the central planners want you to hate (and be ashamed of) your own country. They also want other countries to despise the USA, because it is the only nation in the history of the world ever to be founded on the idea of individual natural rights. That is what they despise the most. The parasite and eternal enemy of civilization is planning to do to the US in the 21st century what it did to Russia and Germany in the 20th." - Unknown
”Many people believe that the 3 branches of government are Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. However, the reality is that the true 3 branches of government, as outlined in the Federalist Papers, are The People, The States, and The Federal Government, in that order. The People hold all of the power, period.” - Unknown
c. Rights
---------------------------
Positive rights (freedoms TO...) are those GRANTED TO YOU BY THE GOVERNMENT - you can do this, you can't do that. Or, in this case, you can not take your child to the US for alternative medical treatment.
Negative rights (freedoms FROM...) are those PREVENTING the GOVERNMENT FROM imposing its will on you. The government can't do this or that to you. Or, in this case, it would have been the Government can't prevent you from taking your child to the US for alternative medical treatment.
Negative rights are the basis of our constitution and are key to true Liberty. Positive rights in the extreme are the tools of progressivism and statism. Ultimately they will lead to tyranny. For more, check out Rediscovering Americanism by Mark Levin.
Other Countries (government grants citizens freedoms)
Government--->Freedoms--->Citizens
USA (citizens have rights that the government cannot infringe)
Governement<----Rights<-----Citizens
"You must call them on it.
FBI: so you are refusing to talk with us?
You: I’d love to help you, but you are by law allowed to be deceptive in your discussions with me. How can any reasonable person believe you? Therefore, as I said, I’d love to help you out, but because you’re under no obligation to be honest with me, there will be no discussion without legal counsel.
Next step: Do you have a warrant? And - Am I Under arrest? Because of your lawful right of deception, any reasonable suspicion should be adjudicated. Therefore, I am telling you to leave my property and never return. This “I already gave you my information” bullshit is just that. If you didn’t see it, and they are plain clothes, call the sheriff's department and report armed individuals reporting to the FBI who are refusing to identify themselves. Always say, “I’d love to help you,” before declining. Then, if it ever goes further, your attorney will first say, “my client advised they were willing to cooperate but had these reservations/stipulations/etc. If you slam the door, yell at them, etc you set the tone as being hostile and non-cooperative. When you put them on notice that you know they are allowed to be deceptive, you shift the conversation to them defending the veracity of their presence. These people are trained interrogators, they will never directly answer a question that undermines their investigation, so you must corner them with statements of facts: they can lie, they don’t have a warrant, you have a right to counsel; and always ask direct questions - so if they lie to you, you can present to them special agent chubby chick lied in her contact. If they lie about little things, what else are the lying about." - Unknown, on what to do if questioned by law enforcement
d. Privileges
---------------------------
“It’s not an endlessly expanding list of rights - the ‘right’ to health care, the ‘right’ to food and housing. That’s not freedom, that’s dependency. Those aren’t rights, those are the rations of slavery - hay and a barn for human cattle.” - P.J. O’Rourke
"Everything I don't like must be banned. Everything I do like is a human right and must be paid for by others." - Unknown
e. Parchment Barriers
---------------------------
"Pathetic, empty and unproductive people don't care about losing their freedom, because they weren't doing anything meaningful with it anyways. Many of these same people rejoice at the loss of freedom for others because it makes them feel better about their miserable existence." - @Rothbard1776
"Liberties aren't given, they are taken." - Aldous Huxley
"Any restriction they put on society is never going away. You still have to take shoes off at the airport cause one guy successfully smuggled something in them 20 years ago." - Unknown
"Will it be sufficient to mark, with precision, the boundaries of these departments, in the constitution of the government, and to trust to these _parchment barriers_ against the encroaching spirit of power? This is the security which appears to have been principally relied on by the compilers of most of the American constitutions. But experience assures us, that the efficacy of the provision has been greatly overrated; and that some more adequate defence is indispensably necessary for the more feeble, against the more powerful members of the government. The legislative department is every where extending the sphere of its activity, and _drawing all power into its impetuous vortex._" - James Madison
"The cultural norm has shifted from 'what is not expressly forbidden is permitted' to 'what is not expressly permitted is forbidden.'" - Unknown
