a. Aging
---------------------
The oldest person who ever lived was named Methuselah, who lived 969 years. Such long lifespans were common in early man.
"And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died." - Genesis 5:27 KJV
"The first generations of man lived a mighty long life, approaching a thousand years. Before the destruction of the world through the flood, God puts an upper limit on the number of days that man can do evil by shortening the average lifespan." - Unknown
“Then the Lord said, ‘My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.’” - Genesis 6:3 KJV
Still, 120 years is an awful long time. Strange how most of us don't even come close...
“In order to do a ritual you surround a person in a circle, you light a candle, you repeat the name of the entity 3 times, and then you blow out the candle. Same thing happens when you celebrate a birthday. You repeat 'Happy Birthday to ______' (same entity 3x), light a candle, make a wish, and blow out the candle. Basically, perform a ritual without even knowing.” - Unknown, on why singing the Happy Birthday song to someone ages them prematurely. To learn more about rituals and the occult, see Chapter 19
“Prince: We came here not knowing we were going to die. Somebody told us that. If we never knew we were going to die, we wouldn't celebrate a birthday.
Host: But isn't it nice to celebrate the day you were born?
Prince: I'll celebrate the day I die.
Host: Because you're going to move on to the next path in life?
Prince: Yes.” - Unknown interview with Prince on YouTube
“Prince: For example, you had how many birthdays?
Host: Me? What do you think?
Prince: Well, I know I had one birthday. You were born on a certain day. You had no more birthdays after that. So I don't celebrate birthdays. So that stops me from counting days. Which stops me from counting time. Which allows me to look still the same as I did 10 years ago, just like that lady said!” - Unknown Interview with Prince on YouTube
"It is very important to try and honor at least some of your dreams along the way before it is too late... Health brings a freedom very few realize until they no longer have it." - Ware
"Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort. The more aggressively we pursue comfort, the faster we age." - Unknown
"Sometimes death only comes from a lack of energy. And a lack of energy comes from taking on less than we are capable of." - Napoleon
"Short life in the saddle better than a long life by the hearth." - Unknown
”Most men die at 27, we just bury them at 72.” - Mark Twain
"If you're 37. Instead of regretting that you can't wake up at age 18 again, pretend to yourself that you're 90 and you've woken up at age 37 again, and that you get to magically, wonderfully have the next 50 years again." - Unknown
b. Death
------------------------
“Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.” - Isaac Asimov
"Just before I die, I am going to swallow a bag of popcorn kernnels. My cremation is going to be epic!" - Unknown
"England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a bone-house, and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive, so they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the graveyard shift.) to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be, 'saved by the bell' or was considered a 'dead ringer.'" - Unknown
"On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero." - Fight Club/Zerohedge tagline
"Some people say they want to die doing what they love. I want to die doing what I hate… so I don’t have to finish it!” - Unknown
"The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness." - Nabokov
"Tonight you will sleep warm and cozy in your bed
Unaware the sword of Damacles
Is dangling over your head" - Unknown
"If you can't pray in that outfit, don't wear it. If you don't want to die in that place, don't go there. Don't say it if you don't want it to be your last words. Don't fear death, but the state in which you will die." - Unknown
"The life cannot be saved. Death can only be delayed." - Unknown
"Woe, destruction, ruin, and decay; the worst is death and death will have his day." – William Shakespeare, Richard II
"When a man knows he is about to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully" - Dr. Samuel Johnson.
“Try to unlearn the obsessive fear of death (and the anxious quest for death avoidance) that pervades linear thinking in nearly every modern society. The ancients knew that, without periodic decay and death, nature cannot complete its full round of biological and social change. Without plant death, weeds would strangle the forest. Without human death, memories would never die, and unbroken habits and customs would strangle civilization. Social institutions require no less. Just as floods replenish soil and fires rejuvenate forests, a Fourth Turning clears out society’s exhausted elements and creates an opportunity.” – Strauss & Howe – The Fourth Turning
"The way of the warrior is resolute acceptance of death." - Unknown
"What we do in life echos an eternity." - Gladiator
"He is mine. You cannot have him. And I saw fear come over Death's face." - Unknown
